This is the only known likeness of William Hart (who built this house); this is a copy of miniature painted on ivory by William Verstille, now in the Colt Collection at the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford.  Hart’s will leaves “tomy dear wife Lucy… my miniature picture set in gold to be to her forever.” This enlarged copy was painted by Marek Sarba in 2013.
